New Robal Village Mud Bay Opens in Bend, Oregon

Robal Mud Bay Bend Oregon

We’re so excited to be opening a second store in Bend, Oregon. Lots of Muddies already love Bend for its hundreds of miles of mountain-biking trails and its thousands of acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain. But even if you don’t love the great outdoors—the 300 days of sunshine to enjoy all Bend has to offer—there’s still plenty to do. This small Oregon city has plenty of breweries, restaurants, wineries and theaters to make even the grayest days more fun.

Mud Bay decided to open our first Bend store in May 2016, and we’ve really enjoyed getting to know the many dog and cat owners in this vibrant city. This week, we’re opening a second store in Bend, and we thought we’d give you a sneak peek into the opening festivities through the eyes of the new Bend store manager, Steve Anderson. Here’s what he was able to tell us.

MB: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

SA: I’m Steve Anderson, and I’ve been with Mud Bay just about six years. I’ve worked in several stores in Washington during that time, but I’ve wanted to move to Bend for a while now. When Mud Bay announced there was a new store opening in Bend, I got the opportunity to make my dream into a reality. Bend is such a good match for my lifestyle because I love camping, hiking and snowboarding. I’m also a huge soccer fan.

When I’m not working, I love to hang out with my wife and our dog and cat. We have a seven-year-old tabby cat named Lolly, who we got from PAWS in Seattle. We also have a six-year-old Golden Retriever named Baker, who we got from a rescue in California’s Bay Area.

MB: What can you tell us about the new Mud Bay?

SA: We’re located at 20520 Robal Lane in Bend, Oregon. The new building is gorgeous, and we’re part of the new Robal Village that just opened. It’s taken several months for our store development team to get the building ready for us to move in, but now we’re just putting on the finishing touches. It’s great to be in the north end of town, and we’re hoping to get the opportunity to meet new people who are interested in dog and cat health.

MB: So, when’s opening day for the new Bend store?

SA: We’re opening at 9 a.m. on June 23rd and the whole Robal Mud Bay team will be here to welcome visitors. We’re going to have coffee and snacks, as well as a $100 gift card raffle and some other giveaways. It should be a fun time, and please bring any four-legged friend you have. We’d love to meet them!

If you can’t visit on opening day, you can always come celebrate with us during our Grand Opening on July 21st. We’ll have free professional pet photography, $100 gift card raffle, giveaways and refreshments for everyone who visits.

MB: If people haven’t been in a Mud Bay before, can you tell them what to expect?

SA: Sure! We’re a retailer that sells dog and cat food and supplies, but really, we’re more interested in getting to know you and your animals than making a sale. Mud Bay is a company that was established in 1988, and we have customers who have shopped with us since our very first store. We’re interested in building relationships that will last the lifetimes of your dogs and cats. Plus, meeting dogs and cats, and hearing customer stories about them, is the best part of my job.

We’re also a company that’s built on finding solutions to common dog and cat problems that can be solved through better nutrition or the right supplies. Every Muddy learns about dog and cat nutrition, and we have written materials to help you navigate common problems like hairballs, diarrhea or stress.

On a day-to-day basis, we might help someone make decisions about flea prevention, finding the right food for a cat with unique dietary preferences, and locating the right toy for a dog who likes to chew. For common problems, we have an answer. And for more unique issues, we’re committed to helping you figure out a solution that will work for you and your pet.***

Steve Anderson is the Robal Road Mud Bay store manager. As a new Bendite, he’s eager to explore the outdoors with his wife and his dog, Baker.

Come say hello to Steve and the rest of the Muddies at our new Bend location anytime. You can also come to celebrate our opening day on July 23nd or our grand opening on July 21st.
