This Year’s Edition of Mud Bay’s Annual Drive to Raise Food, Supplies and Funds for PNW Animal Shelters and Rescues Brings Manufacturing Partners and Our Generous Customers Together for a Good Cause.

While the holiday season conjures thoughts of family gatherings, warm celebrations, and (lots and lots of) delicious meals, the reality for PNW animal shelters and rescues—and the pets in-between homes they serve—can be much different.
“Sadly, every year it seems like we’re saying the same thing,” said Justin Anderson, Shelter Programs Manager, “shelters are overfull and need all the help they can get during the holiday season.”
Help is on the way for those shelters, in the form of Mud Bay’s annual Tons of Love drive to raise food, supplies, and funds for more than 65 animal welfare organizations throughout the PNW.
“We’ve always been a part of the fabric of our PNW communities,” said Anderson, “and this is just another way we all team up to give back and help out.”
As in previous years, there are two ways to easily help shelter pets during the holidays: Tons of Love and Giving Trees. Each program helps direct resources to shelters in different ways.
Tons of Love is a collaborative effort between Mud Bay, longtime pet food manufacturing partners, and our customers. Whenever shoppers purchase food for their own pet either online or at one of our stores, those brand partners will make a corresponding donation to Tons of Love, which this year plans on raising, packing, and distributing over 15 tons of high-quality, nutritious pet food into PNW shelters to help feed pets.
Also, each of Mud Bay’s locations in Washington and Oregon have Giving Trees available from now until December 31st. How they work is simple: each Giving Tree contains an organization’s donation tags that shoppers can select and donate a specific item from the wishlist of one of the animals in their care. These donations go directly to the partnered organization in the community.
“The donations that Homeward Pet Adoption Center receives through the Giving Tree program are absolutely critical,” said Homeward Pet Adoption Center Director of Operations, Lisa Slobojan. “They not only enable us to feed and care for the animals here in the shelter and with our foster families, but they also extend a vital lifeline through our Homeward Pet Food Bank, helping families keep their beloved pets in loving homes, even when facing tough financial times.”
As in previous years, Mud Bay will match Giving Tree donations—up to $30,000—to help shelters get needed food and supplies for the holidays, part of over $1,000,000 Mud Bay donates annually to local animal welfare organizations in Washington and Oregon.
“Between our generous manufacturing partners donating food and our wonderful customers who always answer the call to help animals in need, we’re able to really make a difference over the holiday season,” said Anderson.
