Three Vectors

Offers a Unique, Vegetarian, High Protein Treat for Dogs

Chhurpi is an extremely hard cheese commonly consumed by humans in Nepal. When chhurpi was first imagined as a durable, low-lactose chew for canines, Three Vector’s owner Neil Pokharel saw the potential in connecting with his Nepalese family to source cheese for chews to sell in the U.S.  When Mud Bay decided we wanted to offer a Mud Bay branded chhurpi chew, we knew that Three Vectors would be the perfect partner to provide these chews.

Sources Milk Directly from Grass-Fed Nepalese Yak and Cattle

By partnering with Nepalese farmers via Rihaan Agricultural Farm, Three Vectors can source their milk from antibiotic and hormone free yaks and cows. These animals spend their lives in the high-altitude open grasslands of the Himalayas. Because the well-being of these small herds is directly linked to the financial stability of the family, these animals are treated well and milked by hand.

Creates a Product Through a Partnership with Nepal and Washington State

Family-owned Rihaan Agricultural Farm is a Nepalese company that sources milk from local farmers and creates the chews. Neil is related to the owners, which allows Three Vectors to be sure that their manufacturing and sourcing standards are being met. Bulk chews are sent to Kent, Washington, where they’re packaged and distributed.

Creates a Line of Hand-Felted Products Made from New Zealand Wool

Given the success of our relationship with Neil and Three Vectors, when Mud Bay started looking for partners to provide felt toys and beds for cats and dogs, Neil was the first person we asked. We saw a great opportunity for Three Vectors to expand their offerings by providing products Mud Bay was looking for, and Neil agreed. We provided designs for a line of felted wool cat toys, cat beds, and dog toys, and Three Vectors created them using wool sourced from New Zealand and vegetable-dyed in Nepal. The wool cat beds made for Mud Bay are particularly popular and the slight variations in color and sizing demonstrate the handcrafted nature of this product.

We’re not veterinarians. Mud Bay staff are well educated, and our writing is well-researched, but neither the advice of a Mud Bay staff member nor reading Mud Bay’s written materials can substitute for visiting a veterinarian. We offer carefully chosen, natural solutions, but we believe that veterinary conditions should be diagnosed and treated by professionals.
